Pants did hers…so now it is my turn….
My recap of WUYS’ Best.Weekend.Ever (except that time we went to see Hanson. That was EPIC.)
Saturday: Penguins Open Practice at Southpointe Iceoplex
Kris Letang really liked our side of the ice. Really. I must have taken like 150 photos of him, but I couldn’t help myself.
- He’s very photogenic.
- He’s so fine it is just stoopid.
- He has awesome hair.
- We just can’t help it he wanted to be close to us.
Perhaps it had something to do with the girl sitting in front of us holding the “It’s My Birthday” sign with #58 written on it in purple marker…but maybe not…
Thanks to my uber awesome camera and its telephoto lens, I was able to get some great shots – including a few of “Disco Dan” for Beth, who started crushing on Coach after I duct tapped her to a chair and forced her to watch “24/7”. She resisted at first. But then she gave in.
Wanna see all my photos from practice? Check’em out HERE.
Sunday: Panthers vs. Penguins at Consol Energy Center
We love TheChad’s mom! She’s awesome. Thanks to her, we scored 4 swanky seats in a luxury box at Consol for the game.
Also got the chance to watch the pre-game skate.
Check all the pre-skate photos here.
It wasn’t just hockey that this great city had to offer. Oh no, there was so much more.
There were maple bacon donuts…
And chocolate Stanley Cups…
and for this Polish girl, fried pierogies (nom nom nom)
Oh there were $7 pitchers of Yuengling. $7!!! FOR A PITCHER! I can’t even describe how overjoyed that made me. Me and my wallet.
Needless to say, WUYS had a blast in the Steel City and are most definitely going back…that is if TheChad will have us and our shenanigans.
Pittsburgh, we love ya!

We should open a maple bacon donut delivery service. Then we could afford season tickets.
We could also run a home health service to help all those we turn into diabetics with our MBDDS. (maple bacon donut delivery service)
TheChad just needs to make friends with the guy who owned the luxury box we were in, so we can go to games whenever we want!
Such an amazing weekend! I think this sailor learned more about Hockey and the Pens in 3 days then I ever could have imagined!
Thanks to you both and “TheChad” for a great weekend! Next adventure is Annapolis!!
Does WUYS take guests on these road trips b/c I’d love to learn more about hockey and have some fun along the way!! On top of the fact that I love, love, love to travel 🙂
You also learned that Pants and I sometimes share a brain. And we get so excited about hockey that we get blurry.
I would SO buy into your maple bacon doughnut delivery service. I wish @pghpenguins would post this many pictures!
As a fellow Polish girl, I’m very jealous of the pierogies. Were those cheese or potato?
I think that they had a little bit of both in them. They were DELISH!
Those are amazing pictures…I am drooling in my living room and cursing my camera. Haha! I linked my blog to yours so that my friends can see ACTUALLY good pictures.
Kris looks so happy in these photos. Must be cause he saw you all! Thanks for sharing!
Sorry to be late to the party but I was in London with limited internet access. I haven’t watched a game in a week! Serious withdrawal going on over here. So glad you guys had an awesome Pittsburgh trip. Thanks for all of the eye candy!
Ah, Pierogies or “Klassu” (as my Lithuanian G’ma calls em’), the food that could have prevented many wars. There are these old school Polish Catholics in Pittsbugh that make homemade pierogies in the church basement. My friends and I would go down their on a Saturday afternoon, but a trunkload, go back to the house, get stoned and eat potato and cheese pierogies till we passed out in a THC & food induced coma. What’s up with no “Arn City” Beer in the frig? Not classy enough for the luxury box?
No ‘Arn City in the fridge, but I did have some when I was in PA (at Shiloh Grill, which is a must-go. Reading the menu is an adventure. And funny too!)
My babcia makes some bomb pierogies. Pan fried with some butter and onions/bacon….hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Oh and I forgot to mention that there was a guy in our LB with “YINZ” tattooed on his knuckles. Class.
