At the Caps game last night, we sat 10 or so rows back along the zamboni entrance. During the first intermission, guess who did a little interview right below our seats? Mike Green. Srsly.
The best part of this story: I missed the whole thing! I was in the bathroom.
Mr. Pants took this video – he was the only one to recognize Mike, even though there were a few fans right near us in Green jerseys. For shame, people. Mr. Pants called out hello and got a wave from Mike (not in the video, since you can’t wave and tape at the same time). He said Mike was pretty unmistakable thanks to the combination of this blog and the $5,000 suit he was wearing. And because Mike couldn’t stop being a dork for even a minute, Mr. Pants says: “This is how Canadians high-five.”
Hopefully this mean’s Mike’s head injury is close to healed. He’s participating tomorrow in First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign by playing street hockey with Patrick Sharp and some school kids at the White House. [link] It’s an all-hockey weekend in DC as the Hawks bring the Cup to the White House Friday at 3 PM.
The Hawks and Caps play Sunday at 12:30 PM ET on NBC – don’t forget to turn your clocks ahead for Daylight Savings.

I think its time to invest in a spandex bladder 🙂
Or borrow my nursing skills? 😀 I can help that darn-bathroom-timing problem at hockey games!
“This is how Canadians high-five.”
That’s racist!
Okay, it’s true. We are a nation of many fine traits, but “smooth” is not really one of them.
(BTW, I am so jealous that you guys actually get to go to games in person. Maybe someday I’ll live in a city with a team. Well, a city with a team that doesn’t have the highest ticket prices in the league.)
I can’t believe that you missed this!!!! Waaah.
Kudos to Mr. Pants. though, for thinking quickly on his feet. Thanks to him you can watch the Canadian high-fives all day long.
Also, that suit = impeccable.
DAGGER.
For serious. I want Mike to give me a high five as he rides away on his Vespa, off to get his hair turned into a topiary.
I’m still waiting for my Ovi picture …. HELLO! You said you were THIS CLOSE …
I know the girl he was chatting with…Caps community relations director. We have a history together that has resulted in us never talking to each other EVER. What.The.Hell.
Lucky you that y’all were that close to the game and to Mr. Pants for being thatclose to MG52. We don’t see much up in the 400 level, other than the opposing team’s scratches hanging out in the press both (HELLO Matt Gilroy)
