Sidney Crosby skated today. Did you hear that? CROSBY SKATED! (You should see me dancing.)
To celebrate, NHL.com made two entries into the Most Underwhelming Content of All Time contest. First, the video of Crosby skating [video]:
And this headline graphic. Somehow I don’t think this covers it:
This return to the ice may have been sparked by WUYS reader @jfrancesw suggesting that Sid could use a workout. Too much snacking, Cros?
Sid did a media Q&A saying light exercise is not causing concussion symptoms, but there’s no timetable for his return [video]. We will take what we can get. Let’s go Pens!

When I got a text from the Penguins this morning telling me this BREAKING news, my eyes actually started to water. Although I was completely underwhelmed by that video, it was better than the nothing-ness that has been mocking my Crosby withdrawal. YAYY!!!
I literally fist pumped at my desk at work when I saw @pghpenguins tweet about this. Now we just need to make sure Letang is alive and kicking and all will be right with the world.
Same here – there was much rejoicing at my desk. There aren’t many hockey fans in my office, so I ran across the hall to the one person who I knew would care and we freaked out together. It was a beautiful moment.
And don’t worry about Letang. Anybody else would probably miss a few games after that hit, but not Letang. How many times have we seen him leave the ice with some kind of injury only to reappear a few minutes later? He’s like the toughest guy ever.
WHAT HIT?! Are my nursing skills needed again? Jeez I could make a fortune hiring myself out to the NHL as a private nurse?
I’m probably the only one whose first thought was “Take it easy, Sidney! Don’t let everyone pressure you if you still don’t feel right!”
I mean, it’s good that he’s skating again. I just don’t want to see any Marc Savard scenario again. Plus, the people of Cole Harbour might have to go back to being known for racial tensions instead of Sid, and that would suck for them.
