Watch the Throne

Be honest.  Were you expecting anything less?

Sidney Crosby had 2 goals and 2 assists in his comeback game last night vs. NYI.  He dominated like he hadn’t missed a single game.

I can’t pick my favorite part.  The dazzling first goal?  The obvious “F*%& YEAH!” after (which SportsCenter actually blurred out)?  The smile?  Or is it the way the Hockey Night in Canada announcers are silent for a good 30 seconds, letting us listen to the crowd while we all just soak it in?  The Versus announcers in the US were quiet even longer, because there’s nothing anyone needs to say.

His brilliance overshadows the creeper mustache.  It illuminates the barf-inducing nonsense that is Pierre Maguire.  It makes Jeremy Roenick swoon in the post-game coverage, talking about his thighs.

I may have gotten a little teary-eyed when he skated all the way over to fist-bump Flower after his first goal.  I definitely did watching his First Star post-game interview.  And I probably will every time I see this for a while:

A great day indeed.

  1. I F%*& YEAH’d right alone with him. So happy to see him back!

  2. I think one of my favorite parts of the whole thing was the post- game presser where he sheepishly referenced his celebration word choice with the “I know I got caught with my hand in the cookie jar but with this smile how could you not forgive me.” expression on his face.

  3. OMG SO MANY TEARS. The website, the signs, the cheers from the crowd, Coach Bylsma’s even creepier stache, the obvious goal celebration. I’m a Hawks lover but damn I love this team too.

Fantastic! It’d be even better if he could ditch that caterpillar with mange from his lip, sorry, moustache.

    Cassy LOVES!

I admit, I shed a few tears. I didn’t realize how much I missed him until the return. The ‘stache (as awful as it is) reminds me that he is picking up basically where he left off. 🙂

  6. I had goosebumps leading up to the game and then they just turned to chills running down my spine for the entire game.
I am so unbelievably happy he’s back. I missed him so much!!

I don’t cry, but last night…I almost broke down. To see someone love his sport/profession/passion like Sid does, well it’s just an inspiration to all. And I screamed so loud at his first goal that my neighbors came running out of their house. I was yelling “f&ck yeah” along with Sid, everyone at Consul Energy Center, and all hockey loving fans who were glued to their TV sets.

Hockey is an awesome sport, but it’s just that much better with Sid back.

And thanks WUYS. Love you guys!
