Kris Letang will face a hearing with the NHL Dept of Player Safety today regarding his hit on Alex Burmistrov in the third period of last night’s game against Winnipeg [link].  He received a minor penalty for boarding on the play.  If suspended, it would likely begin (and hopefully end) with tonight’s game in Minnesota.

Bad kitty.

I didn’t see the hit and I can’t find it online anywhere.  Who saw it?  Is Tanger going to get Shanabanned?

Also in Terrible, No Good, Very Bad news, Tyler Kennedy is out with “concussion-like symptoms” [link].  The team found out Sunday night, though Disco Dan says he does not know when TK was injured.  He didn’t play last night, nor will be play tonight.  On Saturday, he finished the game vs. Buffalo and even assisted on Staal’s goal at 15:09 of the third period.

This is an unacceptable development.  Don’t make me call a prayer circle.  The Pens say TK will be reevaluated shortly – good news, please, good news.

    • Thanks Rae! Burmistrov turns a bit at the last minute after Tanger was going to hit him anyway… interesting to see what Shanny makes of this one.

You guys know how much I love Letang… but I think he gets suspended. The NHL will make an example of him. It will send a strong message to everyone – “Everyone, even star players who are very beautiful, have to follow the rules. We don’t even care if all of your other stars are out with injuries. We’ll still suspend you if you are too good at hockey.” Sorry, that started out as a legitimate point and I got all snarky because I’m pissed.

    • “even star players who are very beautiful”

+1, lady. You win the internet today.

    • I have to agree. I think had Burmistrov stayed on his original tragectory, he would have hit shoulder first and it would have just been a hard check. I think everyone who gets called into question will get Shanabanned so that everyone knows who’s boss.

NO KRIS! Nooooooo! He’s my best producing defenseman in fantasy hockey! I can’t afford to have him not playing!

He did turn at the last second. Even the announcers were committing on it. Kris was so baller in that game! He ended up by Flower and batted a puck out of the air like he was the goalie. Flower patted him on the head after that.
