marion hossa – What's Up, Ya Sieve? http://whatsupyasieve.com WE’RE GIRLS. WE LOVE HOCKEY. WE WENT TO BOSTON UNIVERSITY, SO WE WATCH MIRACLE A LOT. They tore open a 5-0 lead in the second period on 2G and 1A each from Duncan Keith and Marion Hossa.  Patty Kane added one and thus went Roberto Luongo into the cold dark night for the second game in a row.

I need earmuffs for this.

Can you believe it?!  I’m trying not to get too excited, they’re still one win away from the brink of destruction.  But what a week it has been.  Duncan Keith is absolutely tearing it up, carrying the load for injured Brent Seabrook and plenty of other weight.  (And the ladies LOVE him.)

You know what HRH Queen Elizabeth II wanted for her 85th birthday, which was also yesterday?  Besides to stop hearing about the Royal Wedding and being asked to approve plates with Wills’ face painted on?

Duck, duck, SOUP.

Well she got it.  Now let’s see if we can get another one Sunday at 6:30 PM, when you’ll all be cracked out on Peeps and jellybeans and running around your house screaming about Tazer Cats.  We’re here for you.

Way Out West… http://whatsupyasieve.com/2011/03/29/way-out-west/ http://whatsupyasieve.com/2011/03/29/way-out-west/#comments Tue, 29 Mar 2011 14:20:19 +0000 http://whatsupyasieve.wordpress.com/?p=4020 The only team hotter than the Pens (won 4) right now is the Predators (won 6).  And take a look at this:

I get so nervous! There are a ton of games on the slate tonight that could change the look of this by morning: Chicago vs. Boston, Dallas vs. Phoenix, Vancouver vs. Nashville, Los Angeles vs. Edmonton.  The Hawks have a game in hand on everyone but the Stars and I’m not worried about teams above them getting farther ahead. Just the teams behind getting any closer.

The Hawks are still scratching it out, having gone 14-4-4 in the last 22 games.  And these numbers!  Jonathan Toews (31-44-75) is 12-17-29 over those 22 games.  Patrick Kane (25-42-67) is 10-17-27.   Marian Hossa (23-29-52) is 12-11-23 [link] and scored that beauty of an OT PP winner last night.

I’m going to take deep breaths and stay positive.  Peter Pan knows you have to think happy thoughts before you can fly.

Third Time's a Charm http://whatsupyasieve.com/2011/02/28/third-times-a-charm/ http://whatsupyasieve.com/2011/02/28/third-times-a-charm/#comments Mon, 28 Feb 2011 08:14:28 +0000 http://whatsupyasieve.wordpress.com/?p=3494 It turns out The Force is not strong in this one.  It only works on Jonathan Toews.  For all my attempted mind control, the Blackhawks won yesterday but so did all the teams I wanted to lose.  Alas, two points are two points and it makes the win even more important.  It certainly didn’t come easily.

Toews got one to start the game.   Then sneakily redirected a shot from newly minted 5-year, $29 million contracted Brent Seabrook [video].

At the end of regulation it was still 3-3.  Like he does, Toews opened the shootout.  And scored the only goal [video]:

Kiss it goodbye.

The Hawks have won four in a row and are currently in 9th place, tied with the Wild, Stars and Preds at 72 points.  They face the Wild tonight in Minnesota, at 7 PM ET on Versus.  To get psyched for the game you should watch Jon’s mom embarrass him with home movies and old stories, then thank Heaven your parents didn’t have a video camera.  Just in case you’re ever famous and/or danced on your couch in a Avs jersey (guilty).
