Foxy Friday: Jonathan Ericsson

We’ll be the first to admit that our coverage of the players in the Western Conference is limited.

Our Foxy Fridays tend to have a more…shall we say, biased skew.  But you can’t really fault us when our favorite teams are in the East Coast, that tends to happen.

You can imagine our delight when one of our twitter followers (@elishajaffer all the way from Dar es Saalam, Tanzania!) suggested Jonathan Ericsson as a potential Foxy Friday.  Perfect!  A chance to expand our horizons and troll the Western Conference team for individuals worthy of such an honor.

We did a google search.  And a new love was born.

Even with this watermark on my face, you still cannot resist the sexy time.

“Hello!” I exclaimed.  “Where have you been all my life?”

He sort of has this Kris Letang thing going on and you know how we feel about that…especially Dawn.

We are very much enjoying the flavor of your Kool-Aid, Mr. Ericsson.

Ladies, let us celebrate this amazing honor with awkwardly long hugs.

So what makes this Detroit Red Wing so foxy?

  • He’s Swedish.  You all know how we feel about Swedish hockey players.  They breed them goooood over there.  Two words – Henrik Lundqvist.
  • He’s a 6’4″, 218 lbs defenseman for an Original Six hockey franchise.
  • He started his career at center but after playing one game on defense for his junior team, a Red Wings scout convinced him to play defense.  The team then drafted him that summer in the 2002 Entry Draft.
  • Speaking of drafts, he was the LAST player selected in 2002.  Dead. Freaking. Last.  Nothing motivates a player more than being picked last.  Just ask Phil Kessel.
  • In 2011, he signed a fatty of a contract with the Wings – three-years, $9.75 million.  He’s making in rain up in hurrrrr.

But you know what really makes him Foxy?

This face.

It’s pretty much perfect.

Sort of like a young Andrew Shue from Melrose Place. Only hotter. And Swedish. And a hockey player.

  1. I’m disappointed in myself that I’m just learning of this Foxy Friday.
Seriously, there must be something in the water in Sweden when you look at the sexy: Stalberg, Lundqvist, Backstrom, Ericsson.

It’s official: I’m moving to Sweden.

    • I’m moving there too. It’s perfect. We can be roommates.

  2. Oh come on. It’s bad enough with the Capitals – I am supposed to hate these teams! Gator will like this though, she ships the Wings big time. At least I’ll be able to respect her for it. 😉

While his play on the ice (and that over inflated contract) have often frustrated me, looking at that face NEVER does. I was at the Wings/’Yotes game last night and couldn’t keep my eyes off of him when he was on the ice.

Finally my Red Wings get some love. See we aren’t just a bunch of “old guys” okay? We have verrry good looking players… Ericsson is definitely one of them. Thank you for this. I am at work and now I am drooling all over my desk.

    GO WINGS.

Speaking of Red Wings, that last picture makes him look like Steve Yzerman

      • ZOMG! You are right! He does look like Stevie Y.

Well yet another reason why he should be a Foxy Friday.

I vote for Stevie Y for an upcoming Foxy Friday. Mmmm.

Yes! A ‘Silver Fox’ addition. Nobody needs to have grey, but celebrate thos players who left the game and aged gracefully. I nominate Yzerman as well.

    • It’s not that we don’t love the Red Wings…we just don’t follow them.
Our only connection to the Wings is our friend Dan, aka the Flop, who wore a Red Wings jersey all the time in college.

We was our very own Cameron (from Ferris Bueller).

  5. OoOoOh!! This ended up being way better than I thought it would. *sigh* What a gorgeous face! Such an incentive for watching more Wings games!

Gorgeous! I can’t disagree with your Foxy Friday picks 99% of the time! haha I can see the Tanger resemblance in the second pic with his hat on backwards, but not so much in the other ones. Doesn’t matter ’cause he’s pretty all on his own:P
